The BSF personnel on Wednesday seized four packets of heroin of one kilogram each, estimated to cost Rs 20 crores in the international market, from the area of responsibility of Border out Post (BOP) Pulmoran, nearly 150 meters away from the international border, where it was hidden under a sack of soil.

M F Farooqui, DIG Sector BSF, said that a special search operation was launched ahead of Border Security Fencing on July 30. “During search four packets suspected to be heroin were recovered by the special search party of Border out Post Pulmoran,” he said. He added that the contraband was found lying below a sack full of soil to block the water flow in the water channel.

He added that border domination has been enhanced in view of the vulnerability of Border from smuggling point of view especially in view of ongoing monsoon season. “Tactical operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers during this season,” he said.
