Border Security Force seizes 22-kg heroin in Abohar sector

The Border Security Force (BSF) claimed to have seized 22kg heroin in the area of the Bahadurke Border Outpost under Abohar sector in Fazilka district.

On Sunday midnight, BSF troops at the outpost observed suspicious movement of some miscreants near the border fence. The jawans Of the 117 Battalion started monitoring the suspicious movement. At about 0215 hrs, they observed smugglers trying to insert a plastic pipe in the fence. The troops then challenged them an asked them to surrender, but the smugglers did not pay any heed to the warnings and opened fire on the troops, said Eapen P V, DIG, SHQ, BSF, Abohar.

The BSF troops also retaliated by firing. However, the smugglers managed to escape taking cover of undulating ground level, standing paddy crops and darkness, he said.

During search of the area, 22 packets, each carrying 1kg heroin were recovered, he claimed.
