All India BSNL Executives' Association continued its protest on the second consecutive day in front of GMT office, Bharat Nagar Chowk on Wednesday.
The protesters have raised several demands, including filling of the posts of CMD and directors of BSNL, stop formation of subsidiary companies of BSNL, stop merger of BSNL and MTNL, procurement of equipment, merger of Bharat Broad Nigam Limited with BSNL, refund BWA spectrum charges to BSNL, recruitment of staff, fixation of pension on 78.2% IDA among others.
The association's district secretary, Balwinder Singh, said that the management was adamant on its stand so the condition of the BSNL was deteriorating with the each passing day. He said that the forum would collect 1 crore signatures from the public in their support before submitting it to Prime Minster Narendra Modi by marching to parliament on Februrary 25, 2015.
District secretary Surjit Singh said that the protest would continue on Thursday. They said that if the demands of the forum are not accepted, then the executives and non-executives will start indefinite strike from March 17, 2015. The central government and the BSNL management will be responsible for the strike, the protesters added.
