Kochar Market

The house owner was away at the time of the incident, with his wife and daughter back home. Interestingly, the house is just 50 metres away from the Kochar Market police post.

Sunny Gujral, owner of Gujral Dhaba, said he was away to buy vegetables for his dhaba around 5am on Friday.

While he was away, two masked men barged into his house. Hearing the noise, his wife, Mandeep Kaur, who was in another room, came out and found two indentified men inside her house.

Before she could react, the two men overpowered her and sedated her, following which she fell unconscious. They later did the same with her 22-year-old daughter.

When his daughter regained consciousness, she found her mother lying unconscious and the house ransacked. She called her father, following which Gujral rushed back home.

His wife then narrated the incident to him. On checking, they found 120gm gold jewellery and Rs 60,000 missing from their house.

Inspector Beant Juneja, station house officer (SHO), Division Number 5 police station, said the police were investigating the case and would register a case after recording Gujral’s statement.
