Burglars decamp with mobile phones worth Rs 7lakh

Night patrolling of police has failed to cater the purpose as incidents of burglaries are rampant in the city.

In yet another incident, a gang of miscreants struck at a mobile showroom near Cheema Chowk on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday and decamped with mobile phones, cash and other valuables from the shop.

On being informed, Division Number 6 police reached the spot and initiated investigation. The police have also scanned the CCTVs installed in the showroom to identify the accused.

The burglars have targeted Phones for You showroom at the RK road near Cheema Chowk. Shop owner Varun Kumar said he came to know about the burglary in the morning, when opened the shop.

The burglars have broken open the shutter and windowpanes of gate to enter.

He added that the thieves stole mobile phones worth Rs 7 lakh, rs 70, 000 in cash, LED screen, computer, printer and other valuables from the shop. A loss of Rs 12 lakh has been reported.

Inspector Ashok Kumar said two burglars with covered faces have been seen in the CCTV footage. Cover of one of the miscreants was slipped during the burglary and his face has been captured in the footage. The police have been trying to identify the accused.
