A burnt body was found at Ludhiana-Chandigarh road near a government school of Jandiali on Tuesday. The body was burnt up to such an extent that the police were not able to determine the victim's gender. The body was sent for autopsy to civil hospital.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Satnam Singh, the incharge of Ramgarh police post, said one Pawanjit of Jandiali village came across the body and informed the police. “We couldn't ascertain the gender of the corpse as it was completely burnt,” he said.

Burnt pieces of gunny bag were also found so according to the police, it is apparent that the murderers had brought the body from somewhere else and set it afire.

ASI Satnam Singh said, “It is possible that the killers have committed the crime in other state or district and brought it here to burn and dump.”

The police have informed the cops of the surrounding areas to ascertain if any person has gone missing.

Panic gripped the nearby areas after the recovery of the body.

Meanwhile, the Sahnewal police have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) against unidentified killers.
