A Punjab Roadways bus conductor has been booked for allegedly embezzling Rs 7.5 lakh from the proceeds of bus tickets sold over the Internet.
The accused, Jagpreet Singh, was booked on Saturday following a complaint by the general manager of Ludhiana inter-state bus terminus (ISBT).
Jagpreet was on duty with the online booking section of the ISBT. Though he had overseen transactions worth Rs 57.24 lakh since April 2011, Jagpreet only deposited Rs 49.73 lakh with the department.
The ISBT general manager alleged that the accused had embezzled Rs 7.50 lakh. Division 5 police have registered a case, though are yet to arrest the accused.
