Two sisters working for a shop at Ansal Plaza here had a miraculous escape on Friday morning when a speeding private bus hit the scooter they were riding on and dragged the two-wheeler around 50 feet from the point of impact. The two women, Daman, 21, and Raman, 18, escaped with minor injuries and were discharged after receiving first-aid at a private clinic.

The two survived because they fell off the scooter at the time of impact. The bus, eyewitnesses said, had jumped a traffic signal at Ferozepur Road when the incident took place. The driver of the bus fled from the spot after the accident and left the vehicle behind.

The police have not registered a case as the parents of the girls have refused to file any complaint. The two victims are Haibowal residents and work for a garments shop in Anasal Plaza.

Daman said she and her sister were headed to work when the accident took place. Daman suffered injuries on her leg, while Raman suffered injuries on her head and face.

Assistant sub-inspector of Division Number 5 police, Dharampal, said the police had approached the injured and their family. "But they are not willing to register a case," he said.
