Heavy security was deployed at the super deluxe flats of Housefed Colony in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar following the brutal muder of an 18-year-old domestic help on Friday morning. Post-mortem revealed that she was pregnant for three months. Her kin staged a protest and did not let police remove her body for over three hours. Senior police officials also reached the spot and asked protesters to calm down.
The girl worked as a maid for a family on the fifth floor of the building where her body was found. Her kin have alleged that flat resident, businessman Sachin Tangri and his father Narinder, killed the girl. They also vandalised a flat in the building compound.
Rape sections may be added
Doctors said the cause of death was a head injury. Her arms were also fractured and she had injury marks on her back and other body parts. The police have booked Tangri and his father for murder. They might add sections of rape too. Police suspect that the accused sexually exploited the girl for months and killed her when they learnt of her pregnancy. The police have also detained the accused.
The girl was working with the Tangris for two years now. The father of the deceased said the gardener found her body in the compound at around 11am and informed police. He alleged that the accused had dumped her body on the ground to make it look like an accident.
Signs of a struggle
Police found traces of hair upstairs and in the lift. They also found the girl’s slipper on the fourth floor. It could be signs of a struggle, police suspect.
Others involved in planned murder: Kin
The kin of the deceased maid have alleged that the murder was planned. They also suspect there were others involved.
Security guards at the main gate enter details of every visitor in the register, including maids, on a daily basis. The girl’s entry was missing in the register on Friday, while CCTVs installed at the gate show her entering the complex.
The security guards kad kept a record of her arrival and departure for all the other days. The girl’s brother said his sister was working for Sachin Tangri for two years now. She would be at work there from 9am to 2pm. Another domestic help claims to have seen her downstairs at around 10am on Friday.
Area residents said the welfare society had decided to issue identification cards to all maids who work here. The victim had given documents for her identity card as well, but she was denied the same, they added.
The brother alleged that the Tangris had conspired to murder the girl, and security guards and other residents could be involved in it.
