With no end in sight to the rising crime in the city, some unidentified people snatched car of a businessman at gunpoint on Batala Road on Sunday at around 5.15am.

The incident occurred when Abhishek Rally was returning to the city from a business tour in Agra with his driver in his Ciaz car.

Abhishek said, “When I reached Batala Road, a Honda City car suddenly came from behind and intercepted our car. Three to four unidentified people came out and asked for the car keys at gunpoint. My driver Sandeep was driving the car. We gave them the keys.”

Abhishek further said almost all the accused were carrying weapons and were saying they will open fire if they did not hand over the keys.

Confirming the incident, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) J Elanchezian said, “The incident happened early morning and I also went there to investigate. Suddenly, an alert was sounded as the accused also took away mobile of the car occupant. The accused went towards Ajnala as it was the last location of the mobile. Efforts are being made to arrest the culprits.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the car of the accused was not following them but probably already parked on the road and intercepted after the Ciaz car arrived there.
