Buthari village woman, family members attacked for hoisting party flag

Police booked a person, believed to be associated with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), for attacking a Buthari village woman and her family members for their support to the Congress party on Saturday.

Police said that after SAD candidate from Ludhiana Parliamentary constituency Manpreet Singh Ayali had lost the elections, accused Darshan Singh, as a matter of revenge, attacked the house of Paramjit Kaur, who had hoisted the Congress party's flag on her house on Friday morning.

The Dehlon police registered a case against Darshan Singh, a resident of Buthari village, and other unidentified persons under Sections 323, 427, 452, 506, 148 and 149 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Paramjit had stated that on Friday evening, the accused along with 10-15 persons barged into their house, assaulted her and other family members. Meanwhile, police have started the investigation.
