The team, comprising seven students of the Centre for Advanced Media Studies (CAMS) of Punjabi University, has clinched first position in choreography at the media fest 'Communis 2015' held recently at Doaba College, Jalandhar.
As many as 16 teams from various universities and colleges vied for top honours in the competition. Members of the team included Dupinder Kaur, Amanpreet Kaur, Chandni Bajaj, Simranpreet Kaur, Valentine, Karan Chawla and Kamalpreet Kaur.
The team was led by Aanchal Sehgal, while the participants were trained by Narinder Kaur Chawla amd Sakshi Gagneja. Sukhchain Singh, another student, finished runner-up in the standup comedy. The students, who finished second, are Chandni Bajaj and Dupinder Kaur in the power point presentation. Meanwhile, in radio jockey competition, Aditya Dutta stood second in the ad mad show presented by Aditya Dutta, Sagar, Girisha and in photography Apoorv finished second.
Congratulating the students for their achievement, Prof Gurmeet Maand Director of the CAMS, said that the centre is already planning to start courses in choreography, keeping in mind its demand in the TV and film industry in addition to lighting and sound design from the next academic session through distance education.
He further said that the Centre is also collaborating with the Time TV Network to start a diploma course in acting and direction from the next session.
