"A campaign for tagging the animals with reflectors was conducted for over two days. We are trying our best to reduce accidents," Thind said.

More than 50 stray cattle were tied reflectors belts on the first stay by a specially-trained cattle-catcher team.

"Commuters are usually unable to spot cattle, especially those with a black skin, on the road. Therefore, reflectors tied to their neck will help people spot them easily from a distance."

Thind said that the government was not in a position to help control the population of stray cattle. He added that it had become very difficult to control the stray-cattle menace.

"The administration has been doing its best. We have also tied-up with 'Gaushalas' to give shelter to stray animals. We were hopeful that with such an initiative, the number of accidents caused due to stray animals will be reduced," he said.
