Congress candidate from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat Amarinder Singh filed his nomination papers here today.
Accompanied by his wife Parneet Kaur and several Congress leaders, the former Punjab chief minister filed his papers before Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Ravi Bhagat in the District Court complex.
Singh is pitted against senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley from the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat.
Senior Congress leader Gurjit Singh Rana filed papers as the covering candidate for Singh.
Amritsar goes to poll on April 30, along with Punjab's 12 other constituencies.
In the affidavit filed with his nomination, Amarinder declared that he and his wife have total assets of over Rs 86 crore.
Amarinder and his wife have moveable assets worth Rs 5.27 crore, including Rs 10,30,000 cash in hand. They have bank deposits worth Rs 91,86,123 and Rs 67,58,100 in bonds, debentures and shares.
They have given personal Loan to any person or firm and company amounting to Rs 2,15,18,839. They own SUV Fortuner worth Rs 32 lakh and Toyota Innova worth Rs 11.5 lakh.
They have gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs 10.6 lakh and silver worth Rs 8.6 lakh.
Amarinder has declared his immovable assets worth Rs 80.97 crore that includes agriculture land, non-agriculture lands, commercial building and residential buildings.
Whereas he and his spouse have shown liability of Rs 42 lakh.
