Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday warned the Akali government against misusing official machinery in the upcoming assembly bypolls in the state.
The former chief minister said he hoped that officials would not succumb to pressure from the ruling party to do their bidding.
Responding to reports about possible abuse of power by the Akalis, he asserted that he would personally ensure that nobody was allowed to hoodwink or intimidate Congress workers and supporters. Capt Amarinder arrived in the city on Friday for the nomination filing by wife Preneet Kaur.
He said, "I want to warn all those who may try to misuse their power that it is only a matter of two years before the Congress will be back in power."
He also said that he was confident that his party would win the Patiala Urban seat with an improved margin
