In the wake of visits of film stars and cricketers in the city to campaign for various candidates, district election officer (DEO) Ravi Bhagat has issued notices to Arun Jaitley (BJP), Capt Amarinder Singh (Cong) and Dr Daljit Singh (AAP), asking them to disclose details of the kind of visits these celebrities had made and the expenses incurred on their visits.

Bhagat said that the three candidates have been given 24 hours' time to furnish details. "They have been asked to provide details about the number of movie stars and cricketers, who came to Amritsar to campaign for them and the expenses incurred on their travel and stay and the amount that they have charged as fees from the candidates", he added.

"Since movie stars do not come under the classification of star campaigners, the expenses, if any have been incurred on their visits or if they have charged any amount from the candidates, would be booked and added to the candidates' poll expenditure", said Bhagat.

While Jaitley's campaigns witnessed canvassing by film actors Vivek Oberoi, Suniel Shetty and Manoj Tiwari, cricketer Gautam Gambhir too visited the holy city to bat for him.

Dr Daljit Singh's campaigns saw the participation of actress and AAP candidate from Chandigarh Gul while Amarinder's campaign has so far witnessed the presence of former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi.
