Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday said the Congress, if elected to power in the next assembly elections, would provide Wi-Fi connectivity in all government-run educational institutions of the state.

“Free Wi-Fi zones will be set up where students can have internet access on the campus,” he said in a statement here. He added that teachers in government schools would be provided better facilities, particularly regarding their postings which should be in their native places or nearest to these places.

Interacting with a group of students and teachers who had come to greet him on the New Year at his residence, Amarinder said he understood the importance of internet connectivity in the dissemination of knowledge. The PPCC president said it was part of his overall plan to revamp and overhaul the education system in the state. Expressing concern over the poor results in government schools, he said: “Our teachers in government schools are well-qualified and hard-working, but still the results are not good.”
