Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Maheshinder Singh Grewal has accused Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh of “hoodwinking” expatriates on his recent US tour by promising them things that the state’s Akali government has delivered already.

Grewal said that Amarinder had been wise to interact with the NRIs (non-resident Indians) through Skype (online video-chat application), “for they would have insulted him on his face for trying to fool them.” “Amarinder should know the Akali-BJP government has given the NRIs fast-track revenue courts, a judicial court in Jalandhar, and 15 exclusive police stations in various districts,” he added.

Challenging the former Punjab CM to count his initiatives for the NRIs from his tenure, Grewal said the current government had not only made it easy for NRIs to reclaim property from tenants but also amended the revenue laws to safeguard their land.

Grewal also referred to the NRI privilege cards and accreditation facilities for the NRI media.
