Describing Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief's recent string of dharnas as a way of fooling people, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal has said that if Amarinder really wanted to help people, he should stage a protest against 'galloping' inflation at 10 Janpath in New Delhi, the residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Talking to mediapersons after paying obeisance at Harmandar Sahib, Badal said, " Everybody, including a child in the state, knows that the union urban development ministry pressured us to levy property tax on people. No dharna can change the real picture."
Having a dig at Amarinder, Badal said, "Let Captain organize a dharna against the union government or against proposed hike in the petrol, diesel and LPG. He does not have the courage to do this as his political future is at stake."
He claimed that Congress was not really a threat to the SAD-BJP alliance. He alleged that the Congress was disintegrating rapidly due to its internal politics.
When questioned on the recent protests over the sugar pricing, he said that the Punjab government had fulfilled its promise and it was now the traders' duty to bring down prices. He alleged that the Congress-led UPA government was deliberately delaying the elections to the General House of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), fearing decimation of Sarna-backed group.
