Car dealer told to pay for charging for repairs during warranty period

The district disputes consumer forum here on Friday ordered Mandi-based Competent Automobiles to pay Rs 67,388 to a customer for charging him for the repairs of a vehicle which was within its warranty period.

The district disputes consumer forum here on Friday ordered Mandi-based Competent Automobiles of Balh to pay Rs 67,388 to a customer for charging him for the repairs of a vehicle which was within its warranty period.

District consumer forum president JN Yadav and member Rama Verma, while disposing a complaint filed by Rita Devi, a resident of village Galori of Nadaun tehsil of Hamirpur district, ordered the automobile company to reimburse`54,388, the cost of repair and also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. The forum additionally directed the automobile company to pay Rs 3, 000 as compensation for filing the complaint.

According to Rita Devi, she sent her car for repair to the company, but it was soon returned. After she found that the repairs were not made, she contacted the company but was told that the car's fuel injection pump was not functioning well and needed replacement, for which she was asked to pay.
