Cars collide in street racing;three hurt as one overturns

Street racing left three occupants of a Maruti Swift car injured after a Toyota Innova competing with it rammed into it on the national highway near Sabji Mandi on late Monday night.
Such was the impact of the collision that the Maruti Swift jumped over the road's median strip and turned turtle in a park after damaging its compound wall.

The injured have been identified as Sahil Kumar, Sajan Kumar and Sunny of Dugri. They were heading towards Jalandhar Bypass in their Maruti Swift car.

According to eyewitnesses, a Toyota Innova was running parallel to the Maruti Swift car in an apparent competition. Meanwhile, the Innova hit the Swift whose driver lost control of the vehicle that overturned in a park after jumping off the road median, even as the Innova occupants fled the scene.

Passers-by sounded the police who reached the spot and initiated investigation after rushing the injured to the hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable.

Inspector Kewal Krishan, station house officer (SHO), Salem Tabri police station, said the police would take appropriate action after recording statement of injured.
