With a person from Uttar Pradesh complaining against Gau Raksha Dal, Punjab, volunteers, police are preparing grounds for the arrest of the outfit’s state president Satish Kumar and his associates, already booked for assault and extorting money from cow traders.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said, “We have applied for the copy of the statement of the victim and after corroborating the allegations, a case will be made.” The SSP said with the victims coming on record, the case has become strong and they will soon take the action against the accused.

On Thursday, a victim from Uttar Pradesh (UP) recorded his statement against Satish and his aides before the judicial magistrate. The victim also stated that besides beating him brutally, the vigilantes assaulted him sexually.

Another victim has reportedly agreed to lodge a complaint against the Gau Raksha Dal with regard to an incident couple of years ago. “As another victim wanted to depose against the outfit volunteers. He is a truck driver,” said a cop.

He also said some other victims were also in touch with the police, but they were concerned about their security.

Police on Sunday booked the chief of a cow protection group and at least 20 others in Rajpura for allegedly beating up truck drivers transporting cows after PM Narendra Modi lashed out at self-styled cow protectors.
