Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa said, on Friday, that the case filed against party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is the product of a sick mind driven by political vendetta. On the third day of his visit to Bathinda parliamentary constituency, Bajwa said thatthe ruling BJP had started showing its true colours within weeks after coming into power by targeting Congress leaders.
"Swamy, a known blackmailer, has been used as an instrument by the ruling party in its nefarious designs to unnecessarily harass and malign these leaders whose public life is an example of spotless and clean politics," said Bajwa.
Bajwa said the vendetta politics unleashed by the ruling party, as exemplified by this case, would set an unhealthy trend in the Indian polity, that will have far-reaching consequences.
"The case is totally baseless and unfounded. Swamy was known for personal motivated campaign against the Congress and the Gandhi family," said Bajwa.
