With two days left for the polling day, the Sunam police have reportedly seized cash which was likely to be used to woo voters.
However, from senior to junior level, not even a single officer from the district police gave the exact figure of the amount seized.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Sunam SDM-cum-returning officer said, "I just got the information and deputed the tehsildar for investigation."
Later, she said that `47,000 have been seized from two people and they have been booked.
She refused to give the details of the people from whom the cash was recovered.However, after repeated attempts, a single police officer agreed to give details of the exact amount.
"I came to know that some `10,000 have been recovered from a m,an in Sunam, I am trying to get more details," said SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu. On the other hand, DSP Sunam told the HT that the Sunam police had seized `15,000 from a man at a check post.
He, however, refused to give more details saying, "I am very much busy."Interestingly, Sunam (city) police station in-charge refused to accept that any money has been seized from anybody in Sunam.
However, sources had disclosed to the HT that the police had reportedly seized `1.5 lakh from two persons and the police had also recovered a slip from the possession of a man to whom the money was to be given.
