CBI on Monday arrested a sub-inspector attached to a Chandigarh police station for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a person threatening to file an FIR against him.
CBI spokesperson here said the complainant has alleged that two FIRs and one Daily Diary Register (reports of non-cognizable offence) were registered against him and others at sector 3 police station in Chandigarh.
“The said sub-inspector investigating all these matters had demanded bribe for Rs 20,000 from the complainant and threatened him to take strict action and also to convert the DDR into FIR. On the request of the complainant to reduce the bribe amount, the sub-inspector agreed to accept Rs 15,000,” the spokesperson said.
They said CBI laid a trap and the sub-inspector was caught while allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 15,000/- from the complainant.
