CBI arrests FCI employee accepting bribe at Phagwara

A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team on Thursday caught a technical assistant employed with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in Kapurthala, red-handed taking a bribe from a commission agent at Pashta Grain Market here.
He allegedly took the bribe for releasing crop payment.The CBI team from Chandigarh led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Satinder Bist arrested Jatinder Chaudhary, a transactional assistant, on the complaint of a Kapurthala-based commission agent.

As per the information, Jatinder Chaudhary, working with FCI for two years, allegedly demanded Rs 35000 bribe from the commission agent to get cleared a payment of Rs 2.32 lakh soon.

The agent had given him Rs 15000 as first installment. Jatinder was demanding the remaining amount of Rs 20000 from him. Following this, the commission agent lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption cell of CBI.

Tajinder is in CBI’s custody in Chandigarh for interrogation. DSP Satinder Bist said they are interrogating the accused and further investigations are on in the case.
