A team of the Union ministry of urban development would visit the city for a Swachh Bharat Mission survey in January. As Ludhiana ranked 381 in the last survey, the team would make a new report for fresh ranking of the city.
If the city residents make efforts for making the Swachh Bharat Mission a success, Ludhiana will become a clean city by 2016, say the municipal corporation (MC) authorities.
Addressing mediapersons at the MC Zone A office on Wednesday, additional commissioner Rishipal Singh appealed to the residents to support the civic body in keeping the city neat and clean. He said a cleanliness drive is underway in the city with a special emphasis on public toilets.
Rishipal Singh informed that a team of Quality Council of India, under the Union ministry of urban development would visit Ludhiana from January 5 to 8 and inspect 12 slum areas, 12 developed colonies, 12 unauthorised colonies and 12 religious places.
The team would not only study the MC report but would also prepare their own report besides speaking with 10,000 city residents to get feedback. He said the residents can call at toll free number 1800-267-2777 to provide feedback.
During the previous survey, the Ludhiana city ranked 381 and the MC expects to get the ranking better this time.
