Though the visitors almost immediately found the equaliser through Jasvir Singh’s 11th-minute strike, it turned out to be their only success of the day.

On the other hand, CFHA tally swelled further with Diljeet Singh’s back-to-back strikes in the 12th and 16th minutes. Their fourth goal came through Shaibjeet Singh’s penalty corner conversion in the 27th minute, while Yashdeep made it 5-1 in the 32nd minute. After half-time, Arashdeep scored the team’s final, and his second goal in the 42nd minute.

In the second match of the day, Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, drubbed Euro International School Group, Gurgaon, 5-1. With this win, the Jalandhar outfit also booked their berth in the semifinals of the championship.

For the winners, who were bang on the target from the word ‘go’, their first goal came in the second minute of the match after Ajay Pal netted the ball through field efforts. While Sudershan doubled the lead in the 14th minute, Babukdeep made it 3-0 four minutes later.

The Euro International team made some desperate attempts to get back into the match, in the process scoring their only goal of the match through Manish in the 33rd minute. However, their hopes of making a comeback were dashed as Vikramjeet (34th) and Sudershan (35th) scored a goal each within space of one minute to seal the match 5-1 in favour of Surjit Academy.
