Harry Baweja, director of recently-released Punjabi film Chaar Sahibzaade was honoured by the Ramgarhia Educational Council (REC), Ludhiana, here on Sunday.
Ranjodh Singh, president, REC, said it was a matter of pride for the entire Sikh community to watch the film. "We don't see such movies more often. It requires a lot of effort and hard work to come up with such an amazing concept. The movie has touched the hearts of people from every community worldwide,"stated Singh.
Baweja said, "Directing a film on Sikh history was on my mind since the college days. I used to write many religious plays at that time. However, it was not so easy to convince Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar."
He added, "I want to congratulate the entire team for working round-the-clock on such a sensitive project. I believe that from now on, more such directors will come forward with such ideas."
Kamaljeet Kaur, Baweja's wife and a calligraphy artiste, who was also present on the occasion, said she was honoured that her calligraphy had been used on souvenirs created by the film team.
