Chandigarh: CBI files chargesheet against IFS officer in graft case
The officer was charged under Section 7 ( public servant taking gratification other than legal remuneration on respect of an official act) and others of Prevention of Corruption Act.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a chargesheet against IFS officer Birendra Choudhary in its special court in a graft case of Rs 1 lakh.
The officer was charged under Section 7 ( public servant taking gratification other than legal remuneration on respect of an official act) and others of Prevention of Corruption Act. The 1,500 page challan also stated a list of about 20 prosecution witnesses, whose statements will be put on record.
The CBI has also referred to another corruption case registered against Chaudhary, wherein he was booked by Mumbai’s anti-corruption cell where he was posted as deputy forest conservator at Dadar and Nagar Haveli in 2010.
Meanwhile, the defence counsel withdrew his bail application. The bail plea will now be filed later.
