Chandigarh MC polls: Entrepreneurs, dhaba owner, social worker in the fray this time

The upcoming MC polls is a battlefield with prominent candidates from major political parties competing against each other. But there are some residents out to try their luck as independent candidates by taking on party candidates. These independent candidates come from a pool of housewives, entrepreneurs, dhaba owners and social workers. This time, out of 122, 53 are fighting the elections as independent candidates.

The upcoming MC polls is a battlefield with prominent candidates from major political parties competing against each other. But there are some residents out to try their luck as independent candidates by taking on party candidates. These independent candidates come from a pool of housewives, entrepreneurs, dhaba owners and social workers. This time, out of 122, 53 are fighting the elections as independent candidates.

In the present House, Gurcharan Das Kala is the only independent councillor. He is also the first independent candidate to win local elections. Earlier part of the BJP, Kala left the party to contest as an independent candidate after he was denied a ticket.
