With traffic policemen playing truant and signal lights remaining dysfunctional for a couple of hours, the busy Sector 22-23 traffic intersection on Thursday had an unusual person managing the vehicle movement to make way for an ambulance that had got stuck up in the snarl.

As impatient drivers honked constantly to get out of the traffic jam, Sector 22-based cloth trader Puneet Kapoor (26), acting as a Good Samaritan, parked his car in the market and started managing the traffic.

He remained there for less than an hour.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Kapoor said, “I saw massive chaos on the road dividing Sectors 22 and 23. Moreover, an ambulance was stuck up. I and my friend parked our car and started managing the traffic to make way for the ambulance.”

“I saw the traffic lights were not functioning and there were no traffic cops. Therefore, I decided to manage traffic for a while.”

“As city residents we also need to act in a responsible manner and there is no harm in managing the crowd if there is chaos. We help motorists wade through the traffic snarls many times during peak hours in Sector 22,” he further said.

His initiative was appreciated by passersby. Moreover, people complied with the directions he gave. He left only after a policeman reached there to manage the traffic.
