10-year-old booked oncharge of attempt to rape

The local police have booked a 10-year-old boy allegedly on the charges of making an attempt to rape a 5-year-old girl here on Sunday.

In a complaint to the police, the victim's family alleged that the accused took the victim to a secluded area and made an attempt to rape her. When the victim raised an alarm, the neighbours rushed to her rescue.

Police said the family of the accused and victim were known to each other and had old enemity. Police further said in preliminary investigation they had found no evidence against the accused and were investigating the matter.

A case of sexual assault under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, has been registered in the Sector 31 police station.
