10-year-old boy run over by truck

A 10-year-old boy was run over by a truck here on Monday. The victim has been identified as Amit Kumar, a resident of Vikas Nagar. According to police, the victim was studying in Class 5 of a private school in Baltana and was on way back home on bicycle when the incident took place near the Baltana/ Vikas Nagar barrier.

The police was informed and the victim was rushed to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. The victim had sustained injures on the head and other parts of the body.

The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to the family members after a post-mortem examination.

The driver of truck fled the spot leaving behind the vehicle.A case under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against an unidentified driver at the Manimajra police station.

UT to shift complainants to another destitute home
