135 encroachers issued challans

Municipal Corporation Chandigarh removed encroachments from different markets across the city in a special anti-encroachment drive conducted on Friday.


As many as 135 violators were issued challans during the drive. The enforcement team removed encroachments from Sectors 17, 22, 34, 46, 47 Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and Manimajra.

Items being sold without authorisation were seized during the drive.

Chandumajra hooted, dung thrown at car in Morinda village

SAD candidate from Anandpur Sahib Prem Singh Chandumajra was hooted and cow dung thrown at his car at Rauni village in Morinda on Friday late evening, when he arrived to address a gathering of nearly 400 people as part of his poll campaign. Power in the area was also switched off to heckle him. The fiasco resulted due to factionalism within the village, sources claimed.
