More than two lakh persons would be eligible to get foodgrains and other items under the centrally-sponsored food security programme in the district. This was stated by deputy commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur during a meeting here on Tuesday.
He said that 43,214 new persons would also be eligible under the programme to get ration. He said that the programme was enforced from October 2013 in the state and there was a target to help 47,162 families in the district having population of 2,43,958.
He claimed that the public distribution system was working well in the district and the people were provided items as per fixed by the state government.
Thakur directed the food and supplies department to ensure that there was timely supply of all items to the people and if there was any complaint that should be solved at an earliest.
