The district administrative complex in Phase 1 turned into a battleground on Tuesday, after two groups of Kumbra village clashed following an altercation. Three persons sustained injuries and were admitted to civil hospital, Phase 6.

Interestingly, SSP office is also in the same complex.

Station house officer (SHO) of Phase 1 Ravinderpal Singh said, “Two groups of Kumbra village were to appear before the sub-divisional magistrate’s court in a land dispute case. An altercation took place between the groups when they were waiting from their turn, which resulted in the clash.”

Members of both groups were carrying sharp-edged weapons.

Sukhwinder Singh, who was injured in the clash, said they had a dispute with Teji and Sunny about a month ago and came to appear before the SDM regarding that case. But, Teji and Sunny, along with their accomplices Billa, Pappa and Manpreet Singh, attacked them with sharpedged weapons and rods.

Meanwhile, Sunny and Teji alleged that Sukhwinder and his men started abusing them and then attacked them with rods and swords.

The SHO said, “We have started investigation into the matter after detaining the members of both groups. We have recorded the statements of both parties and will take action after investigation.”
