Having received support from the CPI and CPM in five parliamentary constituencies, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that recently decided against contesting the state polls may support the Left parties in the forthcoming Haryana assembly polls.

CPM state secretary Inderjit Singh told HT that since the AAP itself was not contesting the assembly polls, they were preparing to hold dialogues on supporting the Left parties. "During the Lok Sabha polls, we had supported them in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Rohtak, Sonepat and Kurukshetra parliamentary constituencies, where our party did not field its own candidates," he said.

Singh said though it was the prerogative of the AAP to take a decision regarding the same, both parties have several things in common like they contested against big political parties - the Congress and BJP. "And the core ideology that corruption should be rooted out from common man's life was also same," he added.

Former HPSC chairman and a member of AAP, DR Chaudhry said the party has not taken any official line till now but he does not see any harm in supporting the Left parties in the state polls as the latter supported the AAP in the parliamentary polls.
