City-based advocate and activist Ajay Jagga has lodged a complaint with the election observer appointed by the Election Commission (EC) accusing the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) of violating the model code of conduct.

The EC had instructed that all references on politicians and ministers on the official website of MCs should be deleted during general or by-elections to the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies.

However, Jagga, in his letter to Chandigarh constituency's election observer Vishvas Mehta, maintained that the instructions were not being followed in Chandigarh as the official website of Chandigarh municipal corporation was still showing photographs of the mayor, who was a politician.

He alleged that apart from this, the official website of the Chandigarh Administration - - was also showing picture of the administrator, which must also be examined. Jagge requested that the violations be taken seriously and all references or photos be removed from the government websites immediately.
