The university parties are high on the trend of making alliance's this year. Regional parties have reserved various positions in the colleges, resulting in major alliance's which will benefit everyone, say students.

In DAV College, Himachal Students Union (HIMSU) and Hindustan Students Association (HSA) made an alliance with presidential candidate Tarsem Singh.

A HIMSU member on the condition of anonymity said, "The regional parties are supported by regional students. Basically, this is a vote bank. Student parties know that certain number of votes will be secured this way."

The college has students from different parties including HAS, HIMSU and Indian Student's Association (ISA) on various posts, who want to secure a seat for the alliances.

In Sri Guru Gobind Singh College too, National Student's Union of India (NSUI) have already made an alliance with HAS and Chandigarh Students Union (CSU).

College student Ronit said, "This year too, we can see that regionalism is spreading everywhere. If I belong from Himachal, I will support HIMSU, instead of any other party. Hence, the seats and votes are secured."
