Assailants rob, beat up school principal

Five assailants roughed up and robbed the principal of DAV School, Rattia, 70 km from here, after stopping his car near Chando village on Tuesday.

The robbers beat up principal Sanjay Chugh and his driver after overtaking the car near Chando village, 25 km from Rattia, on Bhuna road.

Chugh along with other members of the school staff, including an accountant and a clerk, was going to Panipat to attend a function when assailants started following their car. None of the two staff members were injured.

The assailants fled after robbing Chugh of `43, 000 and his mobile phones. The principal and his driver have been admitted to a hospital. They were discharged after administering first aid.

Before fleeing, the assailants locked the car and took the keys with them. The police have registered a case under Sections 390 and 506 (robbery and intimidation) of the IPC and are looking for the robbers.
