Police have registered a case on the complaint of financier Inder Mohan Singh, a resident of house number 130, Phase 11.

In his complaint, Singh said he had opened an office in the house and he along with his cousin Rikki and servant Mithu stayed in the house.

He added that on Saturday night a group of youths came to the house and enquired about him. But when they did not find him in the house, the assailants smashed the windowpanes, LCD and refrigerator. They even vandalised the office, bathroom and kitchen of the house.

The seven cars that were smashed include Ford Ikon, Cheverolet Cruze, Ikon Flair, Maruti Zen and Maruti Alto.

According to neighbour AS Walia, he called up the police around 2 am and PCR came to the spot.

SHO suspended

Phase-11 SHO Rajpal Singh has been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty after he failed to act on the complaint of the attack. The SHO did not even inform his senior officials.

The action was taken by SAS Nagar SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who received a call from AS Walia, a resident of Phase 11, whose car was also vandalised in the attack.

Giving details, Bhullar said, “In the morning I received a call from a resident in Phase 11 who said a few assailants had damaged his vehicle and attacked a house. The PCR did reach the spot, but the SHO neither visited the spot nor answered repeated calls made by them.”

Bhullar said, “On enquiring it was found that the SHO even failed to inform his senior official about the attack. Thus, the SHO has been suspended and sent to police lines.”

According to sources, inspector Rajpal Singh is considered a close aide of local Akali leader who was instrumental in getting him posted as the SHO at Phase 11 police station.
