The Delhi state president of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Sansar Singh, on Saturday joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) with his supporters in the presence of SAD president Sukhbir Badal.

Sansar Singh, who was the Delhi state president of Simranjit Singh Mann's SAD (Amritsar) since 2008, had unsuccessfully contested the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee elections from Hari Nagar in 2013.

Welcoming Sansar Singh, Sukhbir Badal said this would give a major boost to the SAD's Hari Nagar candidate, Shyam Sharma, as "Sansar Singh has a mass base in the area".

Sukhbir also stated that people were joining the SAD as the party was "sensible to the issues concerning the common masses and its leadership was more accessible to people than any other party".
