Those appearing in the Punjab State Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) on August 24 and also in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) preliminary examinations are in a fix as the dates of the two examinations clash.

One such worried candidate said here on Friday that the TET paper 2 was earlier scheduled for August 10, but the decision of the Punjab State Council of Educational Research and Training (PSCERT) to postpone it to August 24 had put many teaching aspirants in the state in a dilemma.

The date was changed from August 10 to 24 “without any prior consideration of any other exam on the same day”, as the UPSC was also holding its civil services preliminary examinations on the same day, said one such candidate appearing for both tests.

The Ratia (reserved) assembly segment under Sirsa parliamentary constituency, from where the Congress won the 2011 bypoll to settle the issue of majority in the Vidhan Sabha, is likely to see a keen contest in the coming assembly elections as the Bharatiya Janata Party appears to be on strong footing.
