Australian national believed dead, found alive in Solan

Police swung into action after receiving a call from their Australian counterparts informing about the murder of an Australian woman in the city, who was on a vacation in India.

All the police divisions, including crime, police control room (PCR), cyber crime, and the local police station, were sounded alert.

Tracking her mobile phone, cops managed to trace the woman in Solan. The UT police informed their Solan counterparts, who traced the woman.

Talking to HT, deputy superintendent of police (DSP) (Central) Ashish Kapoor said the Solan police found the Australian national alive. No police case was registered.

Four killed, 32 hurt after Tempo skids into Sirhind canal

Four people were killed and 32 injured when a light commercial vehicle, Tata-407, fell into the Sirhind canal near Jhamluti village, on the Rupnagar-Chamkaur Sahib road, 19 km from here, on Wednesday. Police sources said that the driver lost control over the vehicle, which rolled down into the muddy area of the canal at around 1 pm.
