A state-of-the-art National Cadet Corps Nagar-cum-Academy will be set up in an area of six acres in Jalandhar, Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said on Monday.
The chief minister also gave nod to establish 'NCC Nagars' on a similar pattern as in Gujarat, at Amritsar, Patiala and Ludhiana in a phased manner after the completion of the same at Jalandhar.
A decision to this effect was taken by Badal while presiding over a high-level meeting here, in which Additional Director General, NCC, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh Zone, Maj General G S Chima, and senior officers of the state government participated.
Badal said the state government would extend full support and cooperation to the NCC Directorate for intensifying its activities through involving more and more youth.

The chief minister, according to an official release here, has also approved the proposal of the Directorate for the upgrading of the NCC Companies (minor units) to the NCC Battalion level for enhancing the scope of NCC, and asked the authorities to immediately initiate the process in this regard.
