Badal congratulates Amit Shah on becoming BJP president

Punjab chief minister (CM) Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday congratulated Amit Shah for taking charge as president of the Bharatiya Janata Party.


Badal, who paid a courtesy call to the newly appointed BJP president, said, "My visit is to congratulate Amit Shah, I'm very happy for Amit Shah to has taken charge as the BJP president, after Modi became the Prime Minister of counry. I hope they will work for the upliftment of poor people."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah took charge as the BJP's new president on Wednesday.

Regarding Shah's takeover, former party president Rajnath Singh said, "He has all the capabilities and management skills required for the strengthening of organization."

NSO members continue protest against alleged irregularities in admissions

The members of National Students Organisation (NSO) continued with their protest on Friday over the alleged discrepancies in the admission process conducted by Joint Admission Committee (JAC) for the admission to various engineering colleges including University Institute of Technology (UIET), Panjab University, PEC University of Technology and Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) among others. The students are continuing with their strike outside the V-C’s office, while three of the students are sitting on hunger strike alleging that the process was not transparent and that irregularities were committed in the process.
