A Sarv Dharam Prarthna Sabha (all-faith prayer meeting) was organised to commemorate the death anniversary of late Punjab chief minister Beant Singh at the Beant Singh memorial in Sector 42 here on Sunday.

Senior Congress leaders by Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president, senior PPCC functionaries, district unit presidents and representatives of various social organisations, besides family members of the late leader, were present on the occasion.

Speakers recalled the services of Beant Singh in restoring peace to trouble-torn Punjab during the turbulent period of militancy and how he sacrificed his life at the altar of peace.

Among those present were former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Ludhiana MP and Beant Singh's grandson Ravneet Singh Bittu, former MPs Mohinder Singh Kaypee and Gurcharan Singh Dadahoor, other former MPs and several sitting and former MLAs.
