Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday cleared a project under which eminent filmmaker Shyam Benegal will make four documentary films on the contribution of Punjabis to the country's freedom struggle.

These films would be screened on a regular basis at the 'Jang-e-Azaadi' memorial being built at Kartarpur in Jalandhar district, a spokesman here said.

The chief minister, during a review meeting regarding the project, assured that there would be no cap on the funds required for the completion of this "world-class dream project", the spokesman said.

Badal was updated about the development of projects by Jang-e-Azaadi Foundation member secretary Dr Barjinder Singh Hamdard.

He reiterated his resolve to complete this project, which includes the exhibition and display of watershed movements spearheaded by Bhai Maharaj Singh, the Kukas, Arya Samajis, Kisan Jagriti, Ghadaris and Babbar Akalis.
