Reviving the controversy over BJP leader Om Prakash Dhankar’s alleged derogatory remarks against women from Bihar, vice-chairperson of Haryana Women’s Commission Suman Dahiya on Wednesday said Dhankar should quit politics and launch a marriage bureau if he was that interested in the upliftment of women. The commission said it would be serving the National Kisan Morcha president a notice.

“Dhankar insulted women not just from Bihar but from across the country. It is shocking that a politician has raised a social issue for electoral gains. If this is the way he has in mind to deal with this situation, he must open a marriage bureau,” said Dahiya. “Soon we will be serving him a notice from the Haryana Women’s Commission and ask him to explain,” she added.

Dhankar had allegedly promised to arrange for Bihari wives for the unmarried youth in Haryana at a public meeting.

Four FIRs had been lodged across three districts in Bihar against him.
